I'm moving to the area in May and need to find a good mechanic. I have a 1985 Dodge Ramcharger that needs some work done on it. Would appreciate any recommendations, particularly if you know someone who has experience dealing with late model trucks.

Try Surf Glass on Long Beach Road. They've been very honest with us in the past, and perform good work.

Beach Service Center on Beach Street is great and trustworthy.

If you're have not found a good mechanic yet, William's on Long Beach Boulevard next to the 7-11 is really good.

I'm wondering if the new Goodyear shop is any good.

I've had 10 years of great experiences with the one near my office in Mineola, and 3 years of good experience with the one near where I used to live.

Friendly Auto on Long Beach Rd. (I think this might be the one by 7-11). Wayne's the guy who runs it. He is really nice, very fair and gets your car back ASAP. 516-432-9575 is the #. My fiance lived in LB for several years before I did and always recommended this guy.

I would agree with mzsocialworker, that Friendly's auto is a top notch operation. I myself have been using them for over 10 years without a complaint, always honest, friendly and spot on with there service. Good luck.

This is *very* helpful! Thanks guys. I'd never found a good shop down here and have continued to take my car in by my office in Mineola.

Nonetheless, tomorrow I'll be picking up my *new* car, so I hope not to need a shop for quite some time :)
