There should be a posting sight for people who want to get involved with animal assistance, which can be in a variety of forums:

1) volunteering with local humane societies-the Long Beach Shelter, the Rainbow Adoption group, etc. Help can take a variety of forms.These groups need help with fundraisers, gathering food, towels and blankets for the animals, animal socialization, dog walking, as well as petitioning the government for local grants and pet companies for supplies.

2) pet therapy-for the aged and sick which can be done in conjunction with local humane organizations

3) home help-for the elderly or disabled with pets

4) trap/neuter program-getting a local unit together to help the community humanely trap and spay the ever growing feline population. This would not only involve the trapping itself, but also coordinating with local vets for establishing such a program.

5) pet sitting-for those on vacation or who have extended work hours.

I'd be interested in finding out more about this and getting involved.

this is a wonderful idea and a great cause, esp since it seems like there are a lot of pets in lb.

i would also be interested in finding out more about what needs to be done.

i am out in lb most weekends but hope to be moving out there soon.
