The menu's a bit limited, but food is excellent. Perhaps the best quality food in LB to date. Good drinks as well. Nice owner.

Hopefully they'll expand their menu.

The tomota soup with grilled cheese is super-yummy and the Chilean Sea Bass was pretty damn amazing (although not listed on the menu as "Chilean.") The Filet Minon was also cooked to perfection.

Like most of the newer LB restaurants, it's on the pricier side (average entree > $20)

I've been here a few times and I do agree with your review of it.
And you are correct, it can get pricey when you order anything but a burger.
The food is excellent and the owner is very nice as are the other people working there. But they do need a price adjustment to get me to order anything but a burger.

Hey James - Since you are in Island Park, anything worthwhile over there? We've been to a few places and we did like the Spanish place, of which I cannot currently recall the name.

We've heard that Pete's Pitaria is also good but I've never been.

Anything notably good across the bridge from Long Beach?

Speakeasy is a cute little place, it can get very niocy at times esp. whrn there is a sports game on TV. And other than a burger, it can be pretty expensive. But the people are nice and the place though small is very cute, it has a speakeasy theme.

I can agree with you that it's "too damn expensive"

But....."too dark for summertime"? 8O I just don't get that..

But I guess that's what makes Horse Racing...

During summer, it stays light outside very late.

But, it's always really dark in there - so, not as inviting for dinner until it's actually dark outside, unless you get a table out front.

This is one of my favorite places in Long Beach. Chef Jake is very talented - I love the mac and cheeses as well as the shirt rib sliders for an afternoon snack.
