Can anybody explain to me the benefit of the new curbs that the city has been installing along the center islands of the otherwise abysmal stretch of road on Neptune Boulveard, north of Park Ave?

The City lists this as one of the roads in Long Beach that is in the greatest need of reconstruction. This appears to place it in queue for redesign within two years. The new center curbs seem to serve no beneficial purpose. Not to mention that it's been taking the city an uncharacteristically obscene amount of time to complete the work.

Nonetheless, the money could have been better spent. It seems like the money was simply tossed out the window here - residents were needlessly inconvenienced. Let's get this road in the pipeline for reconstruction and use the money toward getting that job done.

Anybody disagree?

It's worth noting that I otherwise believe the City of Long Beach does an oustanding job in the way the road reconstruction jobs are otherwise managed. They are generally done quickly and efficiently, and properly. That's why this mysterious Neptune work is such a surprise.
